TORONTO – A portion of Yonge Street at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square will be off-limits to traffic for a National Hockey League kick-off event scheduled for Wednesday.

Yonge Street from Dundas Street to Queen Street will be closed as of 10 a.m. Tuesday until 4 a.m. Thursday.

The NHL Face-Off celebration, which takes place from noon to 10 p.m. Wednesday, coincides with the official launch of the hockey season.

Musical performances include Canadian iconic rock band The Tragically Hip and country music artist Tim Hicks.

The Maple Leafs will be hosting the Montreal Canadiens at the Air Canada Centre that evening.

Motorists are being advised of delays in the area.

Meanwhile, TTC Yonge Street buses will divert onto Victoria Street.
