WINNIPEG — Two former Manitobans were shot and killed in Honduras on the weekend.
Henry Beltz, 57, and his stepson Robert were attacked in the restaurant owned and operated by Beltz in the community of Omoa.
“At least one guy walked in with a gun and my brother said to him, ‘You can’t come in here with that,’ and he just shot him. And then he went and shot Robert,” said Beltz’s brother, Garry.

Robert was killed instantly; Henry died hours later in hospital.
Henry moved to Honduras from Virden after a visit to the country about 20 years ago.
“He just fell in love with the place, the weather and the people,” said Garry Beltz. “They were like family to him.”
Robert worked in the oil rigs off the Gulf of Mexico and visited Honduras frequently.
