The heat from the Riders-Stamps rivalry was too much for Mosaic Stadium’s Maxtron to handle at Friday night’s game.

The scoreboard caught fire just after they set off the opening game fireworks.

The fire department says the pyrotechnics box overheated when they set off the opening light show.

The fire only burned for a few minutes before it was extinguished by city facility operators.

They turned off the Maxtron as a precaution, but it was all clear. The game wasn’t delayed, and there was no damage to the scoreboard.
