WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s Cody Eakin and Cody McLeod have both signed new contracts.

The Colorado Avalanche announced they’ve sign McLeod to a three-year extension. The Binscarth, Man., product will reportedly make $1.5 million the first season and $1.25 million in years two and three of the contract.

“He brings grit, energy and passion to the rink every single day,” said Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic in a media release. “We are excited to have him under contract for another three years.”

McLeod, 30, has racked up 978 penalty minutes in seven NHL seasons with the Avalanche. He had five goals and eight assists in 71 games last season and has scored 41 goals over 467 career games.

The Dallas Stars signed Winnipeg’s Cody Eakin, who was a restricted free agent. The 22-year-old is entering his third season in Dallas after being acquired in trade that involved Mike Ribeiro from the Washington Capitals. His new contract is reportedly two years worth a total of $3.8 million. Eakin scored 16 goals with 19 assists in 81 games last season.
