  • Doug Ford is expected to attend his first mayoral debate tonight since he replaced brother Rob following his cancer diagnosis. The event is hosted by the York South-Weston community associations and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
  • Forum Research poll released Monday suggests John Tory has a seven-point lead over Doug Ford, the former with 38 per cent support versus 31 per cent, and Olivia Chow in third with 25 per cent.
  • The U.S. and five Arab countries launched airstrikes Monday night on Islamic State group targets in eastern Syria, and the U.S. undertook a separate, unilateral air attack on what it called an al-Qaida affiliate elsewhere in Syria.
  • Age, not gender, is increasingly at the heart of income inequality in Canada, says a new study that warns economic growth and social stability will be at risk if companies don’t start paying better wages.
  • Ontario’s 29th lieutenant-governor will be officially installed in her new post today at Queen’s Park. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, a former undersecretary general of the United Nations with a long public service record, will be sworn during an installation ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
