Shuswap houseboat death ruled accidental

It was a deadly crash involving a houseboat and high speed vessel that claimed the life of a 53-year old-man. Now the BC Coroner’s Service has ruled the death as accidental.

The crash happened on Shuswap Lake in July of last year. Ken Brown was operating the houseboat when it was struck by a speed boat.

The impact was so powerful that the speed boat became embedded in the larger vessel the coroner’s service has determined that brown died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma.

The coroner involved in the investigation says the finding of an accidental death has no bearing on any criminal charges that may be laid.

RCMP did recommend charges earlier this year but the crown has not yet determined whether to proceed.
