CALGARY- An internal review has found that officers followed Amber Alert protocols in the case of a missing nine-year-old who was later found dead.

Amber Lucius’ body was found in a vehicle in a rural area near Sundre on Sept. 2. Her mother, Laura Coward, has since been charged with first degree murder in the case.

Lucius’ father Duane Lucius reported the girl missing on August 31, but no Amber Alert was issued. As a result, a review was launched by the RCMP, which determined that protocols were properly followed.

Coward is scheduled to appear in court on October 6.
