TORONTO — Canada’s Michael Cera has revealed he and fellow actor Jesse Eisenberg get mistaken for each other on a regular basis.
“I bumped into Jesse on the street once and he told me he gets it once a day,” Cera told the New York Post. “People think he’s Michael Cera.”
The 26-year-old native of Brampton, Ont. is currently in New York starring in This Is Our Youth at the Cort Theatre.

Cera, whose films include Juno and Superbad, was asked by the Post to recall the weirdest token of fan affection.
“When I was around 15 and in Arrested Development, a couple heard I was staying in a hotel in Vancouver and called me,” he replied.
“They said, ‘Hey, we really want to meet you!’ They sounded really nice but . . . I said, ‘I’m actually sick, I can’t come out, but thanks!’ Then they delivered a get-well basket full of stuff you’d give a 5-year-old, like an Etch A Sketch and some candy.”
Asked to name the hardest drug he’s taken, Cera said it was Valium and morphine that he received during non-invasive heart surgery when he was 19.
“I don’t think that’s stuff that most people use recreationally, but that was pretty wild,” he said. “You don’t feel much — it’s just coursing through your body.”
Cera also told the newspaper he enjoys tennis (“I have no serve and I rush the net at weird times”) and chess (“I think I overthink it”) and recently played softball with a group of friends.
“They stuck me in the outfield. Now I can handle it. When I was a kid, they stuck me in the outfield because I had nothing to offer. My dad was a coach, so it was doubly embarrassing,” he said.
“I was about 6 and really bored, so I mindlessly took my mitt off and put it on my head. All of a sudden, they’re calling my name and the ball is coming toward me, and I had no idea where my mitt was and they’re all screaming at me. It was a nightmare.”
