TORONTO — R&B artist The Weeknd has been named recipient of the Allan Slaight Award, to be presented at the Canada’s Walk of Fame gala next month.
According to ET Canada, The Weeknd — whose real name is Abel Tesfaye — is about to head out on his King of the Fall tour.

The 24-year-old performs Sept. 21 in Toronto.
The Allan Slaight Award, which honours young Canadians who have achieved international success, has previously gone to Toronto artists Drake and Melanie Fiona, Montreal’s Nikki Yanofsky, and Mission, B.C. singer Carly Rae Jepsen.
The Canada’s Walk of Fame festival runs Sept. 18 to 20 in Toronto and this year’s inductees will be honoured at a gala on Oct. 18.
