PHILADELPHIA — Authorities in Philadelphia say a newborn baby of a pregnant woman killed by gunfire in northeast Philadelphia over the weekend has also died.
Police said 25-year-old Megan Doto was shot while sitting outside her home in the Frankford section of the city when someone opened fire up the block shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities said the woman was rushed to Temple University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Doctors were able to deliver the baby by emergency Caesarean section, but hospital spokesman Chris Guadagnino said early Monday that the child had died.
Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances of the shooting and say no suspects have been arrested.
