Alberta man charged in fatal hit and run

EDMONTON – A 25-year-old man is facing several charges in connection to a fatal hit and run at a central Alberta First Nation.

Ian Cardinal was killed after being hit by a vehicle at the Alexander Reserve First Nation Sunday, which is 55 kilometers northwest of Edmonton.

Morinville RCMP interviewed several witnesses, leading to the arrest of an Alexander First Nation resident.

The accused has been charged with impaired driving causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous driving causing death and causing death by criminal negligence.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on October 30.
