MONTREAL – Police say they neutralized a suspicious package near an office building in Laval Friday morning.

The package was discovered at 6 a.m. near the office of an MNA.

St. Martin Blvd. between Sun Valley St. and Vallieres St. was closed for several hours while the Surete du Quebec bomb squad dealt with the package. Three people were forced out because of the incident.

The bomb squad shot the device with a highly pressurized jet of water to neutralize it around 10:30 a.m. St. Martin Blvd. was reopened about 20 minutes later.

The incident is similar to one that took place at the same building in Laval in March, di Genova said.

“People back then were trying to make a link between the package and an MNA (Liberal Alain Paquet) who has his office in the building but there was no note or anything attached to the package.”

Paquet is the parliamentary secretary to Premier Jean Charest and president of the National Assembly’s public finance committee.
