The fire broke out in an abandoned building on the corner of Jarry St. and Wiseman Ave.
Police received a call around 4:50 a.m. and witnesses reportedly saw a group of people fleeing the building.
48 apartments were evacuated and one female tenant was treated for smoke inhalation.
