VANCOUVER – A 21-year-old Surrey man was arrested on Thursday afternoon for having a gun on the SkyTrain.
Police first received a text message from their communications centre at about 2:45 p.m. saying a man had a gun in a paper bag at Granville Street Station.
They did broadcast a description of the man to officers but the man could not be found.
Then at 4:40 p.m. a second report came in of a man with a gun in a paper bag, leaving a train at Burrard Station.
A SkyTrain attendant then spotted the man on the train at Metrotown Station, heading towards Surrey.
Transit Police met the train at Surrey Central Station and took the suspect, who is well known to police, into custody without incident.
The gunturned out to be a BB air pistol, a replica of an H&K USP (Universal Self-loading Pistol), with no markings on it to indicate that it was a replica.
