CALGARY – The Alberta Barley Commission has appointed an acting general manager.
Commission chairman Matt Sawyer announced Thursday that Lisa Skierka will take on the job.
Sawyer says Skierka’s strong connection to agriculture, as well as to the commission’s staff and industry partners, made her a natural choice.

Since mid-July, Skierka has overseen the staff and day-to-day operations of the commission’s executive committee.
She says she is looking forward to working closely with the board to ensure their priorities and goals are being met.
The commission is a not-for-profit organization directed, funded and controlled by the province’s 17,000 barley producers.
