MONTREAL — Three-year-old Montrealer Auguste Majkowski heard music for the first time over the weekend after experimental brain surgery helped him to hear.

Although his mother, Sophie Gareau, told Global News that she hoped the first song her son would hear would be Somewhere Over the Rainbow, it wasn’t to be.

Gareau shared a video on her Facebook page of the moment her son heard the song Ma Baker by Boney M.

“Incredible moment this weekend: Auguste heard music for the first time, thanks to his brand new ABI (1 and a half months post activation)!!!,” she wrote.

“Who would’ve thought it would be Ma Baker by Boney M! I won’t complain, this is simply amazing!!!”
