NEAR KELOWNA–A driver survived a high speed crash at Thunder Mountain Raceway east of Kelowna Sunday afternoon.
Peter Rudy was driving a turbocharged Ford powered Toyota Corolla when he lost traction, slammed the safety barrier three times and then went off the track through water filled barriers at a return road.

Track emergency crews cut him from the wreck and he was walking on his own after but was taken by ambulance to Kelowna General to be checked out.
The car’s a total loss.
The track’s timing system showed he crossed the finish line at 122 miles per hour, after already hitting the barriers.
