VERNON — The BC Coroners Service has identified the teen who died in a longboarding accident Sunday as Christopher Mathew Mitchell, 17, of Vernon.
Mitchell was hit by a minivan at 11 p.m. Sunday at 39th Street and Okanagan Avenue, after he apparently failed to stop at a stop sign.
Police say the driver didn’t see Mitchell until it was too late. No charges are being pursued against the driver.
The BC ambulance service and the Vernon Fire Department responded to the accident and provided CPR, but the teen succumbed to his injuries at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
