SASKATOON – Saskatchewan’s PGA Tour star Graham DeLaet was in Saskatoon for he and his wife Ruby’s inaugural charity event held at Riverside Country Club.

This two-day event, known as the Graham Slam, is the first initiative for their newly launched Graham and Ruby DeLaet Foundation.

Founded in June, the foundation’s central focus is on improving children’s health and wellness as well developing junior golfers in the province.

The event kicked-off on Tuesday with a golf demonstration and reception for young golfers.

“A special thank you to Graham and Ruby DeLaet for coming home and giving back to the kids and families of Saskatchewan,” said Brynn Boback-Lane, president and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan (CHFS).

“We are grateful to them both, and of course we’ll be cheering on Graham as he represents Saskatchewan on the international stage of golf.”

Construction of the main hospital building is scheduled to start early next year.

Meanwhile, Graham is also in the running for the #RBCGolf4Kids competition.

The charitable initiative invites Team RBC golfers and their followers to engage in an online challenge via social media.

To help Graham win $125,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan, his followers need to use his hashtag #RBCDeLaet as much as possible before July 27.

Ruby and Graham are headed to the 2014 British Open, which starts July 17.
