SASKATOON – Summer is in full swing and along with it is a rewarding way to practice yoga on water.

Because of the extra attention required to maintain balance, stand up paddling (SUP) yoga activates every muscle in the body, guaranteeing a full body workout.

SUP Saskatoon teaches paddleboard yoga at Pike Lake Provincial Park.

The organization has a huge fleet of paddleboards along with canoes and kayaks, plus numerous instructors, all dedicated to providing the ultimate yoga experience with a twist.

Global News tried it out on Tuesday and it was Melissa’s first time paddle boarding and she absolutely loved how relaxing it was.

I had a bit of trouble at first trying to get used to the way I need to distribute my weight but once I got the hang of it I was loving it.

To incorporate yoga practice and paddling takes yoga to a new level.

A large amount of stability is involved along with core strength to keep yourself level. I would hands down do it again.

Hopefully if I try it again I can give the headstand a try!
