Minor explosion at Saskatoon’s Sheraton Cavalier injures two

SASKATOON – Two people were injured after an electrical explosion at a downtown Saskatoon hotel Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Sheraton Cavalier on Spadina Crescent around 11 a.m. for a report of an explosion and fire in the basement.

Arriving crews confirmed there had been a minor explosion but there was no fire.

It was found that two electrical contractors were removing a cover from a panel when an electrical short occurred.

Both workers were assessed at the scene and one was taken to hospital for further examination. Their injuries are considered minor.

Fire officials say there is no damage to report from the incident.
