VANCOUVER – Crews are responding to a 25-hectare wildfire currently burning near the west end of Takysie Lake, about six kilometres south of the community of Southside, and south of Burns Lake.
Officials say the fire was started by a lightning strike on July 2.
No property is threatened at this time, however nearby communities may be able to see smoke and helicopters in the sky.
There are currently 40 crew members from the Wildfire Management Branch on scene and as of 9 a.m. on Thursday, 85 per cent of the fire was surrounded by a retardant guard.
