WINNIPEG – A man who went to get a glass of water for a woman he found on his porch was stabbed by her, police say.
The 71-year-old found the woman, whom he didn’t know, sitting on his North End porch on Monday evening, police said.
The woman asked for a glass of water and when he went to get it, she followed him into his house and hit him from behind. When he fought back, she pulled out a weapon and stabbed him, police said.
The woman grabbed a few items from the home and fled.
Police were called to the home on Boyd Avenue near McGregor Street at about 9:30 p.m. and the man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
His attacker was 25-30 years old, had a medium build and long black hair, police said. She was wearing loose, black pants, a dark-coloured short-sleeved shirt and black shoes, and carrying a black backpack.
Police ask anyone with information about the crime to call them at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
