WATCH: Bride-to-be survives jump from burning apartment to get married

A Colorado wedding turned into a celebration of life after the bride and her maid of honour narrowly escaped an apartment fire just days before the wedding.

Bride-to-be Lenise Ruff and her maid of honour, Marilyn Kruc, had to jump from a third floor window as their apartment complex went up in flames last Monday.

Ruff suffered minor injuries, but her best friend wasn’t so lucky.

“We grew up together. She was my roommate as well. She jumped and broke her back,” Ruff told KUSA-TV.

Kruc broke two vertebrae and spent six days in hospital, but she was determined to be there by her friend’s side on the big day.

Just before the ceremony started on Saturday, Kruc arrived in a back brace and with the aid of a walker was able to make it down the aisle to stand next to her friend.
