A big celebration in Vancouver today as Cirque du Soleil marks its 30th birthday.

Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson has declared today “Cirque du Soleil day.” The anniversary celebration began at 8 a.m. at the Pacific Centre plaza.

There are free cupcakes and popcorn for the public as well as surprise ticket giveaways.
