WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have unveiled plans to erect a bronze statue of “Bud” Grant outside of Investors Group Field.  The plan is to have the six foot tall, 3 foot wide statue ready in October.

Grant played four seasons with the Bombers in the 1950’s until he was hired in 1957 as the youngest head coach in franchise history.

Grant coached the Bombers for 10 seasons winning four Grey Cups during that span.  He would go on to coach the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings and now at the age of 86 Grant still maintains an office with the Vikings in Minnesota.

The statue will sit outside the Bombers Store at the southwest corner of the stadium just off Ken Ploen Way.

An unveiling ceremony will take place during the week of the Bombers final home game on October the 25th with Grant expected to be in attendance.
