NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – A call centre in Nova Scotia that employs about 300 people is closing its doors this fall.
Convergys, which handled incoming calls for a health-care client in New Glasgow, says it will close the centre on Sept. 28.

Company spokeswoman Brooke Beiting says employees will be offered a chance to apply for other internal positions, including some that would allow them to work from home.
Beiting says the decision to shut down the centre was made because the company wants to handle the calls at other locations, but she declined to elaborate.
A spokeswoman for Nova Scotia Business Inc. says Convergys New Glasgow received about $7.8 million in payroll rebate incentives between 2001 and 2010.
