Driver felt compelled to turn into vehicle

KELOWNA —  The woman told police she felt compelled to drive through the intersection but that’s no excuse for causing a crash.

The two vehicle crash happened at the intersection of KLO Road and Benvoulin Road where a woman turned her van into the path of a pick-up truck while making a left-hand-turn.

RCMP say the woman says she felt pressured to get through the intersection.

“The light turned yellow and she felt that she had to turn the vehicle,” says Cst. Lise Marion of Central Okanagan Traffic Services.  “As I explained to her, she has to make sure that all through-lanes are clear before she can make her turn even if that means she waits until the light turns red.” Kelly Hayes/Global Okanagan

There were two small children in the van.
