OLIVER — Harvest season isn’t in full bloom yet, but pickers have already started arriving to the Okanagan.
Workers who are staying at a campsite in Oliver are surprised to learn that there’s no water for them.
Over the last nine years, a neighbouring farm has been supplying the water.
But earlier this spring, the farmer has decided the liability risks were too much.
This decision has left the Regional District of Okanagan-Simlkameen and Town of Oliver scrambling to build a water system for the workers.
In the meantime, pickers are buying bottled water and taking showers at the community centre.
