Search suspended for missing elderly Saskatoon man

SASKATOON – The search for a missing man last seen south of Saskatoon on Wednesday has been suspended by RCMP.

Michael O’Keefe, 80, was last seen Wednesday afternoon by the Berry Barn on Valley Road.

Personal effects found near the South Saskatchewan River on Thursday were confirmed as belonging to O’Keefe.

RCMP and civilian search and rescue personnel conducted a search for O’Keefe on Friday using a helicopter and a zodiac water craft. A ground search was also undertaken.

The search area included both shorelines between the Berry Barn and Circle Drive Bridge and the helicopter made numerous searches between the Berry Barn and Clarksboro Ferry crossing northeast of Saskatoon.

O’Keefe was reported missing on Wednesday after last being seen walking around 11 a.m. in the 100-block of 105th Street.

His was later reported to have been seen around 3 p.m. that same afternoon near the Berry Barn after being taken there by taxi.

Police say there have been no sightings of O’Keefe since then and no further searches are planned at this time.
