Search turns to South Saskatchewan River for missing elderly man

SASKATOON – The search for a missing Saskatoon man has turned to the South Saskatchewan River.

Michael O’Keefe, 80, was reported missing from his residence in the 300-block of Pinehouse Drive.

Police say O’Keefe was last seen at a restaurant on Valley Road around 3 p.m. on Wednesday after being driven there by a taxi.

Personal effects found there that have identified as belonging to O’Keefe point to him being near the river.

RCMP, the public safety and air support units from Saskatoon police, STARS and Saskatoon search and rescue are now coordinating a search of the river and surrounding area,

O’Keefe is 5’8” tall, 190 pounds with a medium build. He is balding with grey hair in a comb-over, blue eyes and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a red plaid “old fashioned” Scottish style hat.

He is in good physical health but does suffer from memory issues.
