Fatal crash near Libau closes Manitoba Highway 59

LIBAU, Man. — A fatal two-vehicle collision closed Manitoba Highway 59 north at Road 32 East, the Libau access road, on Monday afternoon.

Selkirk RCMP and Selkirk Traffic Services were called to the crash at 2 p.m. Monday.

The man driving one of the two pickup trucks that collided was pronounced dead.

A pickup driving south and another going west crashed at the intersection. The driver of the westbound vehicle died and his female passenger was taken to hospital.

The man driving the southbound truck also was taken to hospital.

STARS air ambulance helped transport the patients.

The highway reopened before 6 p.m.

An RCMP forensic traffic reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.
