Civic workers in White Rock to ramp up job action

Striking unionized White Rock city workers are set to step up job action today by withdrawing services at all city work sites.

It comes after a series of rotating strikes over the past few weeks, affecting everything from bylaw enforcement to garbage collection.

Starting this morning, picket lines will also be up at city hall, the community centre and arena.

The union says workers have been without an agreement since 2011 and are looking for better work hours, benefits and treatment for part-time staff.
