TORONTO – In less than two weeks, residents and visitors alike will be enjoying the Victoria Day long weekend and provincial police are reminding people to practice safe boating.
Police say following some simple steps before you leave the dock — such as making sure everyone on board has a life jacket — will help increase safety out on the water.
O-P-P also suggest checking and monitoring the marine weather forecast as conditions can change quickly, particularly on larger bodies of water.
Also, letting someone know your planned route and estimated time of return can help a timely rescue in the case of an emergency.
