Firefighters put out grass fire south of Saskatoon

SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Fire Department battled a grass fire south of the city Saturday afternoon.

Around 1:20 p.m., multiple crews were called to a field near Grasswood Road for a the fire which was approximately 30 acres in size.

Fire officials say the area was very saturated, rendering the rescue pumper ineffective. Manpower and natural barriers were utilized to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was contained with no threat to any surrounding buildings.

No injuries were reported.

Cleanup lasted until 5 p.m.
