Boil water notice for Glenmore Ellison area

KELOWNA–The spring runoff is well underway and for a number of Okanagan residents that means boil water notices are being issued.

On Tuesday the notice as issued for users within the Glenmore Ellison Improvement District.

It comes due to increased water turbidity in Mill Creek.

Affected households are those located on or east of Old Vernon Road, on or north of Anderson Road and all properties south of Postill Drive.

The IHA recommends that water intended for drinking,washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.

Contaminants such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites can attach themselves to the suspended particles in turbid water.

At-risk populations include newborns, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

GEID’s customers will be notified when the Boil Water Notice is rescinded.
