EDMONTON – Police and emergency crews were trying to extinguish a grass fire on the south side of Highway 16, east of Acheson Tuesday afternoon.
Officials have reduced traffic on the eastbound lanes of Highway 16 to one lane because of poor visibility and excessive amounts of smoke.

The fire is under control and emergency crews estimate the lanes will be reopened by 3:45 p.m.
Traffic delays are expected and officials suggest drivers chose an alternate route.
