SASKATOON – A man is facing a number of charges following a chase in a stolen Saskatoon police cruiser on Friday evening.
Police were originally called to a home in the 100-block of Powe Crescent after receiving a report that a man and a woman were being threatened by a man armed with a knife.
The armed suspect is believed to have broken into a garage and home and slashed tires on a vehicle.

Arriving officers confronted the man outside next to a cruiser and attempted to get him to drop the knife.
He refused and when an officer unsuccessfully tried to Taser him, the suspect jumped into a cruiser and took off, injuring one officer in the process when he was dragged a short distance by the patrol car.
A chase then ensued, ending less than five minutes later when the stolen cruiser crashed with a truck on College Drive between Cumberland Avenue and Campus Drive.
He was captured when he tried to flee on foot.
The 20-year-old man is facing charges of break and enter, four counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief, possession of a weapon, theft over $5,000, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to stop for police and obstruction of police.
His name has not been released. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
Police say a review will be launched as a Taser was discharged.
