McCain Foods appoints Dirk Van de Put as president and chief executive

TORONTO – McCain Foods Ltd. has appointed Dirk Van de Put as president and CEO starting July 1.

The New Brunswick-based food manufacturer said Van de Put, who has served as chief operating officer since May 2010, will succeed Dale Morrison in the leadership roles.

Van de Put previously worked as president of pharmaceutical company Novartis and also held executive roles at Group Danone and Mars Inc.

“We were delighted to attract someone of Dirk’s calibre to McCain Foods,” said chairman Allison McCain in a release.

“Dirk has been working closely with Dale over the past year getting to know our people, our business and our opportunities. This planned transition will enable us to continue our focus on growing the McCain business around the world.”

Last month, Wallace McCain, the founder of the company who later went on to control meat processor Maple Leaf Foods (TSX:MFI) died at 81.
