LA RONGE, Sask. – It what could be described a scene out of a movie, a teen rammed a stolen car into a RCMP roadblock in northern Saskatchewan on Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to escape capture.
It began when La Ronge RMCP were warned by their counterparts in Montreal Lake that the four-door car was heading north on Highway 2 at excessive speeds.
Mounties set up a road block about 15 kilometres south of La Ronge using three marked patrol vehicles and a spike belt behind the barricade.
The driver accelerated when he saw the barricade and an officer fired a shot at the car in an attempt to get it to stop.
The car then hit one of the cruisers, drove over the spike belt and entered a ditch.
The driver and a passenger then fled into the bush line.
Prince Albert RCMP police dogs were called in to help with the search for the suspects along with conservation officers on snowmobiles.
The pair were caught in the early evening on the east side of Potato Lake.
