Windows were smashed and tree branches were broken when hail the size of baseballs pounded the townsite of Waskesiu in Saskatchewan’s Prince Albert National Park.
A thunderstorm rolled through the area Monday evening, producing an hour-long deluge that turned roads into rivers and left homes, businesses and vacationers’ equipment damaged.
Barry Headrick, who is vacationing in the area about 250 kilometres north of Saskatoon, says the entire downtown was flooded.
Bonita Matushewski, who was sitting in her recreational vehicle when the hail hit, says it was scary but her RV escaped any harm.
There were reports of tornadoes in the Lloydminster and Big River regions, but Environment Canada has not confirmed them.
Forecasters say the hot, humid weather could produce more severe storm activity in Saskatchewan over the next day or so, only this time in southern regions of the province.
