5 victims of Brentwood stabbing spree identified

CALGARY- The five victims of a shocking stabbing spree at a house in Brentwood have been identified.

They are:
Lawrence Hong
Josh Hunter
Kaitlin Perras
Zackariah Rathwell
Jordan Segura

Rathwell was a first year student at the Alberta College of Art & Design. He was also the lead singer in a band called Zackariah & The Prophets, whose drummer, Josh Hunter, was also killed in the attack.

Zackariah Rathwell and Josh Hunter are believed to be among those who died in the Brentwood stabbing spree.

According to his Facebook page, Lawrence Hong was an urban studies student at the University of Calgary.

All of the victims were in their twenties.

The shocking attack happened during a party at a home, celebrating Bermuda Shorts Day, which marks the end of classes at the University of Calgary. Police Chief Rick Hanson called it the “worst mass murder in Calgary’s history.”

22-year-old Matthew Douglas de Grood has since been charged with five counts of first-degree murder. He is the son of a veteran Calgary police officer, and was recently accepted into the University of Calgary’s faculty of law.
