Burnaby RCMP search for man who allegedly assaulted an officer

Burnaby RCMP are looking for a man who allegedly injured a police officer early Sunday morning.

Mounties say they responded to a complaint of a suspicious man in an underground parking lot in the 5500-block of Irving Street at around 1 a.m.

When two officers approached the man, he allegedly became aggressive and started to fight, according to Mounties.

The suspect then allegedly pushed a female officer into a cement pillar before fleeing the scene.

She was taken to hospital and treated for a dislocated shoulder and has since been released.

Mounties conducted an air and ground search for the man, who is known to them.

The suspect is described as a 23-year-old Caucasian man, 6’2″ tall, 140 pounds with brown eyes and hair.

Mounties say the public is not at risk.
