Global Calgary has received major industry recognition for our efforts to help keep Southern Albertans informed.
At a gala in Winnipeg, the Radio-Television Digital News Association honoured our news team with six awards — including Best Newscast, Best Spot News and Best Continuing Coverage.
Those awards involve our extensive reporting on last June’s floods.
Global Calgary also won the Best Live Special Event award for our Mini Stampede Parade coverage at Alberta Children’s Hospital and other awards for diversity and feature reporting.
This competition involved radio and television stations on the Prairies.

“I am honoured to collect these awards on behalf of the incredible people who work at our station.” said Chris Bassett, News Director of Global Calgary. “To everyone who has supported news in the last year and everyone who puts in the long hours telling our community the stories they care about, year after year, thank you.”
The winners now go on to compete nationally.
