Violent sex offender, deemed high risk to reoffend, now living in Vancouver

WARNING: This story contains disturbing content

A violent sex offender, deemed high risk to reoffend, has been released from jail in Alberta and is now living in the Lower Mainland.

Marcel Joseph Parent, who attacked two women in Calgary, was until recently serving time in an Alberta prison. Now he’s living at a halfway house in downtown Vancouver and one of his victims wants to warn women here about the 36-year-old.

She fears he will strike again.

“I had bruises all over my body,” remembers his first victim ‘Lisa’, who spoke to Global News. “He sexually assaulted me, he sodomized me. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through in my life.”

Parent is almost six feet tall, about 200 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes. In the past he has preyed on young women working alone in tanning salons.

The parole board has also deemed Parent a high risk to reoffend, but Vancouver Police are not issuing a public warning.

Unless Parent violates one of his conditions, such as missing curfew and staying off drugs, police say they will respect his privacy rights along with the rights of 44 other high risk sex offenders they are monitoring in the city of Vancouver.
