CALGARY- A violent sex offender who attacked two women in Calgary is back on the streets—and at least one of his victims fears he’ll strike again.

Marcel Parent, 36, has been released from prison, after serving time following a shocking sexual assault. It had striking similarities to an attack just over 10 years ago at a local tanning salon.

“I had bruises all over my body,” remembers his first victim, who Global News is identifying only as Lisa. “He sexually assaulted me, he sodomized me.

Parent was sentenced to only two and a half years in that case, and soon after his release in 2008 he attacked another woman, also at a tanning salon. Lisa is convinced he will strike again, despite being under a long term supervision order.

“He had conditions after he was let out after me, he was on probation for a year. Did that stop him from trying the exact same thing again? No, he’ll never stop.”

The parole board has deemed Parent a high risk to reoffend, and he is now bound for a halfway house in Vancouver. However, Parent has ties to Calgary, and Lisa says she’s sure this won’t be the last anyone hears about him.

“I give it six months, and he’s going to reoffend again.”
