Help a school out.

April 10, 2014. We headed out to the thriving metropolis of Picture Butte today (home of the 32nd greatest Canadian of all time Hal Anderson…or is it 36th greatest? according to a nation-wide poll a few years back. I used to work with Hal at LA FM and now he’s a star in Winnipeg. I’ve digressed again.) St. Catherine’s School in Picture Butte is a finalist in the Majesta Trees of Knowledge competition for a $20,000 outdoor classroom. We talked to the gal who spearheaded the involvement, Jess Campmans. Jess who’s an active parent of the school was looking for grants to help build a new playground when she came across the Majesta thing. Greg Noyes is the principal of St. Catherine’s and is really on board with trying to win. Not only is an outdoor classroom great for the school it’s would also be a great addition to the town of Picture Butte. You can vote every day to help them out plus you have a chance at winning your own $10,000. Go to http://www.majesta.com to mark your X.

Laurie Donadlson of Glass Nails salon wanted to give back to the community that supports her so every Saturday of this month she is donating a portion of her proceeds to the YWCA. Kristine Cassie, CEO of the Y is thrilled to get the support as they’re always in need of funds for a plethora of wonderful programs they run over there. Plus when you donate, you’ll have a chance at winning some prizes. A win-win.

Scott Paterson of the Canadian Cancer Society is asking you to bust a couple of moves this weekend with the Let’s Dance Lethbridge fundraising event over at the Boys & Girls Club. There’ll be some dance instruction in a variety of styles and it should be a fun day. It all starts at noon and goes until 8pm. One day I plan to do my entire weather cast in interpretive dance. It will be cutting edge. Either that or I’ll just be cut off at the edge.
