TORONTO – Constable Mike Klarenbeek, injured in a shooting at the Brampton courthouse last week, has been released from Sunnybrook hospital.
He was taken to hospital last Friday after being injured during a shootout near the entrance of A. Grenville and William Davis Court.
Klarenbeek’s wife, Lynn, issued a statement Friday through Peel Regional Police:
“My family and I are very thankful that Mike is able to come home today. Our police family has been very supportive and have taken very good care of us. Mike and I have both been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. It has been unbelievable. We would like to thank everyone, including the media, for all of the support.”
Klarenbeek was providing security at the courthouse when he was allegedly shot by 45-year-old Charnjit Singh Bassi, who was himself shot and killed by nearby officers.
