TORONTO – The U.S. National Weather Service has issued several tornado warnings in parts of Texas as severe storms rolled through the state.

Tornado warnings were issued in Denton and Fannin Counties in northern Texas.

The NWS had issued an outlook earlier in the week that warned of the potential for severe storms affecting several states. There is still the potential for tornadoes, hail, and strong winds this evening and overnight.

As of Thursday evening the NWS had received one report of a tornado in Missouri.

However, there were reports of a tornado in Krum, Texas, though they were unconfirmed as of Thursday evening.

Particularly dangerous is the fact that these tornadoes are rain-wrapped — they are hidden within heavy rain making it impossible for people to see it approaching.

Warnings and watches remain in place as the NWS continues to monitor the weather situation.
