SREDA looking for new president

SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) is searching for a new leader.

It was announced on Monday morning president and CEO Tim LeClair has departed the organization following a unanimous decision of the board to seek new leadership.

LeClair was suspended from his position earlier this month after it was revealed he had not filed income tax returns between 2003 and 2011 and is facing multiple charges.

Each charge carries a fine ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 or up to 12 months in jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 15.

Jim George, vice president of business development for SREDA, will assume control of the group during the search.

“We are looking forward to welcoming a new leader to help guide SREDA into the future,” said board chair Bruce Richet.

“Our city’s prospects are bright and we are eager to work with a new CEO to help the region fulfill its economic potential.

SREDA is hoping to have a new CEO installed before the end of the year and said work and operations will continue as normal.
